After discovering what a terrible year 1965 was for movies in our recent @cinemashame.bsky.social episode, it's legit shocking how many good films came out just a year later--and my favourite is still the one where Adam West can't get rid of a bomb.
2016: THE EDGE OF SEVENTEEN
2006: SHE'S THE MAN
1996: WHEN WE WERE KINGS
1986: THE FLY
1976: CANNONBALL!
1966: BATMAN: THE MOVIE
1956: THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT
1946: IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE
1936: AFTER THE THIN MAN
2016 - ARRIVAL
2006 - CASINO ROYALE
1996 - SCREAM
1986 - ALIENS
1976 - TAXI DRIVER
1966 - AU HASARD BALTHAZAR
1956 - THE SEARCHERS
1946 - IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE
1936 - MODERN TIMES

Once again, I am thankful to all of you who have reached out with kind words about my work in Star Wars and in The Life of Chuck. It is not mere humility when I tell you I'm not the man you think I am.

For Tim Allen reasons, we talked about* his remake of THE SHAGGY DOG and how it's a perfect example of how fretting about remakes is absurd because we had all forgotten it existed until we looked at his IMDb today. Meanwhile, I just checked Disney+ and it's not on there. But the original movie is.

I’m confident that this is the only podcast to discuss Elvis Presley in TICKLE ME and Orson Welles’ CHIMES AT MIDNIGHT within the same hour. That's why you should listen to @cinemashame.bsky.social. If I’m wrong, I want the name of the podcast that beat us. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/c...

It’s hard to believe that I’m taking notes about THE SANTA CLAUSE 3: THE ESCAPE CLAUSE (2006) for the annual @cinemashame.bsky.social holiday episode with @dandelgado.bsky.social. In what world does this movie require so much fucking attention?

But you know what? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

At the end of last year's @cinemashame.bsky.social holiday episode with @dandelgado.bsky.social, I joked we should do THE SANTA CLAUSE 3 next, even though I've never seen the other two films. Fast forward to tonight and I actually have to watch it. Don't make jokes, kids. They can catch up on you.

I didn't mention it in this @cinemashame.bsky.social episode we just released but apparently near the end of the Broadway run of PLAY IT AGAIN SAM, Woody Allen was replaced by Bob Denver and now all I can think of is how different the film would have been with Gilligan opposite Keaton.

Now if someone cast Deutch as Seberg in a movie about the making of PAINT YOUR WAGON, I would take a day off work to be there for the opening day matinee.
Reading about NOUVELLE VAGUE begs the question, "Will Allan watch a biopic about a filmmaker he dislikes making a movie he's never enjoyed just because he wants to see if Zoey Deutch can pull-off Jean Seberg?"
