We’d fund this through a windfall tax on excess profits made by big banks, rather than higher taxes for struggling families and businesses.

We have created a beautiful space - used by dozens of families - in the heart of our thriving, rural idyll. That's proper patriotism, right there 🇬🇧

We have an awful lot to be proud of in Britain.

I'm proud of our little Allotment Association here in Chulmleigh where I've just stepped down as Chair of the committee and handed over to someone with a bit more spare time than me!

This recent obsession with the national flag feels worryingly similar to other countries and time periods I'd rather not emulate...

They're spending money on mass-manufactured plastic flags and going out in the night to sow division. That's not patriotism. It is upsetting to see our national symbol used to intimidate minority communities.

If these people putting up the flags actually cared about this country, they'd be volunteering to fix their village's church roof, or baking for the local coffee morning, or coaching the local girl's football team, or helping out at a food bank! They aren't.

I've had multiple reports from (mostly women) people who feel much less safe walking down these streets bedecked with these flags. Mothers and their children worriedly on the look out for a "flag waving patriot" whilst going to school. The whole thing has a misogynistic vibe to it.
