Day 10. Clean state changes so that I can focus on the overall flow of the game as I flesh it out. Sidetracked a bit adding imgui bindings to my lua code. Encountered some physics bugs in my Chipmunk2D physics integration.

Day 9. Basic enemies, three action cards, one modifier card. Then I did some SFX to test the feel. (Video has sound!)

It seems quite easy to become demotivated by looking at other people’s progress and how fast they get along, while it can also be very helpful. I have to learn to find a good middle ground.

Days 5 & 6. Added in placeholder visuals for triggers, mods, and actions (these are the backbone of the mechanics in my game). I've also fixed some bugs, and added areas for basic card manipulation. The dashed lines do kinda look busy.

Day 3. Added card stacking and fixed the graphics flicker. I also fixed some collision errors and layering issues.

Day 3. Today started with a bit of cleanup, and planning regarding how card zones should work. I wanted to make the cards stackable as well, but oh well. Right now I just have some interactible cards that can be reordered. There's a bit of flickering with the render commands.

Day 2. Cleaned up my codebase and started a new branch. Cleaned off the main menu and other game code to start from scratch. Also did some design tweaks and tried to get a clearer picture of the type of layout I need for the cards & building screen. For now, just a main menu.

This was day 1. I did a lot of ideation and mind-mapping today to lay out the features I had in mind for this game, which fuses elements from games I enjoyed such as Stacklands, Path of Achra, and POE.

Too much worrying about job security these days. It really parches the soul.

Putting together some ui&base code that I’ll use for the next game jam that comes along when I have the free time. Coming along ok.

One of the biggest motivation drains is having too much work from the day job..

and realize you’ve added too many arbitrary “modules” to your code and it takes too long to organize them into an up-to-date repo
