A lot of people can’t hold onto the cognitive dissonance of capitalism being good while their loved ones suffer needlessly. That dissonance became much more stark as the U.S. ignored cries for basic needs and instead sent billions of $$ to Israel for their genocide.
The nature of capitalism is that there's always a tipping point where capital gets too greedy, and it becomes impossible for the rest of society to believe the myth that there's a social contract which restrains the elites.
And so lots of people stop restraining themselves.
