The Essay referred to trans people as demons. I would like you to imagine grading an essay in any other context with any other class of people called demons and how you would handle that paper. Would you grade a paper that called Black women demons? Native men? Or would you refer it to Title IX? 4/

Do you recall all the way two years ago when Claudine Gay and other prominent Black academic leaders all came under accusations of plagiarism at the SAME TIME? They were all weak claims, and Chris Rufo OPENLY TWEETED about intentionally coordinating to hound these leaders out of their positions. 3/

It is a trap because the student and her would-be MAGA lawyer mom and her right wing advisors deliberately targeted a trans TA with this paper, seeing it as a no lose strat. Any feedback the TA provided would be sent to the media. Passing the paper as is would mean a total surrender of authority. 2/

Liberals have blinders on for systemic analysis. I don’t actually think that someone’s poorly done essay being given 2% instead of 0% really matters when the outrage machine is basically calling for trans blood to flow in the streets. Get a fucking grip.

like it was good fun to make fun of the dogshit writing and all but we know what this is! she's not pretending this is anything other than an attempt to ban trans people from teaching! she clearly had that as the end goal before she wrote the essay! it is exhausting that we are doing this

"assumption of bad faith" is the proper way to treat right wing complaints like this and I have a hard time thinking of a situation in which it was incorrect

But also "assumptions" are guesses you make before you have the evidence. You are allowed to retract good faith once more evidence arises.
