In search of the world's best everything bagel and imperial stout. Also public policy, classic films, College basketball and Mets baseball.
UVM apparently hasn't lost 3 conference games in a row since 2009 🤯. Doesn't appear that's going to finally happen today. Gus Yalden with a deep 3 to put them up 40-15 on UNH at the <4 MTO.

Seahawks are going to smoke them by at least 10.

This looks and sounds like a letter read aloud in a Wes Anderson movie by one of his precocious boys or broken men

Love waking up to a surprise Mets trade (even if it wasn't the one I was hoping for). More pleasant vibes than the 10 degree temperature outside.

Love not being able to move my telework day this week and have it apparently superseded by the holiday by surprise fiat 🙄. On the bright side? commuting in 15 degree weather is a good excuse to break out my new winter coat for the first time this year 🥶🤩.

Also me on Friday after I've enjoyed one of the fancy beers I've stockpiled for my birthday.
Curt Cignetti: “It was the best beer I’ve had in my life and I may want to have another.”

One of the things I hate the most about my commute is an early bedtime on big primetime sporting event nights. I'm sure the finish to the CFB ship is going to be a fun one, I'll be sure to catch the highlights at 5 am 😩.

Who even hates the Bills that much? It is a suffering brought forward out of deep time by the Old Gods, suffering not compassed by any mere human spite or schadenfreude, but immense—implacable—indifferent—and whose meaning is its meaninglessness.

Drake Maye super bowl bound.
Stunner: Broncos coach Sean Payton just announced QB Bo Nix broke a bone in his ankle and is out for the season.

Shout-out to the Seahawks for letting me spend the rest of the evening watching The Rip.

Absolute disasterclass from the Bills that half.

Keeping tabs on my commuting delays / chaos of 2026 - misadventure #1:
01/07 - NJ Transit 15 minutes late getting into Hoboken due to switch issues, missed my usual PATH train as a result. Minor inconvenience as next PATH train was only 7 minutes behind.

After having not done it for a month, can confirm commuting still sucks. Did give me a chance to look up that I apparently won't see the sunset until after I leave the office until February 16th, so I guess that's something to look forward to? 🤷🏼‍♂️

This year's NYE movie was Snowpiercer. Nothing like ringing in the new year with an axe fight and a revolution.

Princeton by 4 at halftime. UVM's inability to defend continues to plague them, Princeton a sizzling 50% from 3 in the first half.

Finally checking Jadwin Gym off my 🏀 list. Can UVM end 2025 with a win?

One of the rare highlights of this miserable year, finally won my work fantasy league in my 4th championship appearance of a decade of playing 🥲! Not the prettiest of wins, but got enough from Nacua and Mevis to sweat out the victory on MNF.

Happy Pete Alonso got his 💰. Sad he won't finish his career as a Met. Also happy the Mets aren't paying him and Nimmo $250 million for the next 5 years. Excited to see what Stearns and crew cook up instead.

Finally checking Brooklyn Paramount off my NYC concert venue list with The Beths after a series of concert mishap flakery on my part.

Botched one of my salary cap drafts this year and so I spent $4 on him instead of the $1 minimum for a non GOAT kicker. Worth every penny as he singlehandedly tries to kick my team into the playoffs.
in his 3 NFL seasons, Brandon Aubrey has as many career 60-yard field goals (6-for-9, 66.7%) as every NFL kicker from 1960 to 2008 (6-for-82, 7.3%)

Only a rousing discussion of the Brendan Frasier classic Monekybone could get me into the city on a Friday night when I otherwise would have been free from the toil of commuting...

Rewatching Prey before catching Predator Badlands tomorrow, and it remains an absolute crime that this movie did not get a theatrical release.
