Does anyone happen to have a copy of the book “Land of 10,000 Loves: A History of Queer Minnesota” by Stewart Van Cleve? It’s out of print as a physical book and I hate reading ebooks. I need it for a project and would be so grateful to find a used copy that isn’t hundreds of dollars

EHRC now saying that not only should trans people be excluded from sex segregated spaces, but ALSO those matching birth sex:

“A legitimate aim for excluding a trans person from … service for their own biological sex …to prevent alarm or distress for other service users.”

The Times understands that the guidance is still being finalised and it will not decree that services have to provide single-sex spaces, but that if they do - for example if a lavatory is intended for women - transgender women would be excluded from using it. To allow someone of the opposite sex to use the facilities would be very likely to amount to unlawful discrimination. It will also make clear that it will not be deemed as discrimination to exclude trans people from those facilities and that services will be allowed to request birth certificates to ensure single-sex services are protected. It read: "A legitimate aim for excluding a trans person from a separate or single-sex service for their own biological sex might be to prevent alarm or distress for other service users. "A trans man might be excluded from the women-only service if the service provider decides that, because he presents as a man, other service users could reasonably object to his presence, and it is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim to exclude him".

We've had extensive discussions in the past year amongst my close colleagues about AI use in the classroom, and some people take different approaches. But all of these uses prevent students from learning what I am teaching them, here specifically information literacy

The Appendix on an AI policy is actually quite bad. Having an AI deliver a summary before reading has major implications in terms of the experience of student learning. What we want students to do and how they do it is the question. The experience of reading is not the same as reading a summary.

THE WE HELP US HOTLINE Sharing Stories of LGBTQIA Mutual Aid Join us for an afternoon of story exchange, where attendees will share experiences of queer mutual aid (receiving it, offering it, or both). These stories of community care will be audio recorded for potential use in a narrative art project. Most will also be archived at the Jean-Nickolaus Tretter Collection in Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Studies at the University of Minnesota, which is the biggest LGBTQIA archive in the upper Midwest and one of the largest in the country. Hosted by Good Judy Productions, a new narrative podcast studio in Minneapolis, and Quatrefoil Library, the second oldest circulating LGBTQIA library in the United States. SAT. MA put in a 4% millionaires tax 2 years ago, & the GOP said we'd miss revenue targets & millionaires would flee. MA collected TWICE the projected revenues, & the number of millionaires went UP 40%.
