Actually, if dynamic pricing really is the future, why not? The tech for this exists.
If Supermarkets really want to reduce food waste, then they should reduce the prices on a sliding scale leading up to the sell-by-date. Not just on the sell-by-date itself. It's ridiculous that a loaf of bread that goes off tomorrow costs the same as one that goes off in a week.

A side point to a good thread, but knowing “the government can move fast if it chooses” makes the dissatisfaction at the fact it doesn’t in so many areas more understandable
You can't assume that the current pace of capacity building remains constant if you are willing to disregard existing procedures in pursuit of your goal, as we saw during the pandemic. The Government can move at speed if it chooses. /2

Obviously I’m joking, but what an election photo that would be - the SoS accompanied by all the steelworkers saving the plant for the nation.
Delighted that the Steel Industry (Special Measures) Bill includes a provision that Jonathan Reynolds doesn’t have to break into Scunthorpe steelworks all by himself.
