Highly recommended if you want to understand the role of one provincial force in the Seven Years War, and the social implications of military service during the war in the years leading up to the Revolution.

What perfect album came out the year you turned 16? Several come to mind—it was a good year for hard rock/metal—but this one stands out.

I liked that it was pointed out that a sizable number of the militiamen who responded at Lexington and Concord were veterans of the Seven Years War. It’s an imperfectly understood episode of US military history, and the role played by provincial troops was not inconsiderable.

You buy one highland cow weighted stuffy for your kid and suddenly your IG feed is awash in—you guessed it—highland cows. You know what? I’ll take it over the time I looked at a WW2 post and my feed was nothing but Nazis for six months.

30 minutes into the new Ken Burns American Revolution doc and I am very impressed. The array of experts consulted is heartening.

Rural person here. I knew more gun owners in suburbia. Most folks who own guns in my neck of the woods are hunters. The image of gun owners in America has largely been shaped by pop culture.
The image of gun ownership in America has been white, rural and Republican, but that's been changing as more liberals and minorities have been buying guns, especially after the 2024 election.
