This chapter of the @thewaroncars.bsky.social new book is hard to read as a parent. It’s one of the big motivations that I’ve become a more vocal advocate but the timescales for change in our area are just sooooo long. The freedom and growth we’ve taken from kids is just shameful to think about.

NYC definitely needs way more of these double-wide bike lanes.
Being able to calmly bike next to someone is the sort of low stress trip I think a lot of people are waiting for before trying to cycle around the city.

I remember exactly one quote from my driving instructor when I was taking driver's ed, and that was "children aren't careless, they're carefree", and we as drivers had a responsibility to let them remain that way.

Yep. Kids, pedestrians and cyclists unpredictable? Sure they are. So put your phone away, slow down and pay attention. Drivers have a solemn and absolute duty to not kill people with their cars. Don’t want that job? Don’t drive.

Je viens de faire Boitsfort-Woluwé-Boitsfort et j'ai été mis en danger cinq fois sur le trajet. Parce que vous êtes stressés, pressés, distraits, nerveux. Ce n'est pas acceptable. 1/x
