Saw a fella with extremely limited vision and a white cane that I know rides the 510 get extremely agitated when four buses arrived at once. The 510 was last in line.

Flagged the driver down and made sure he got on the right bus.

I am filled with sudden, but not overwhelming, remorse that I didn't check out the head at the nastiest pub when I had the chance.
A photo of a Domino's Pizza in Inverness next door to a newly constructed Travelodge Chester Hoster We took advantage of Katy's folks being on a work assignment in Suffolk twice while they were there. On one of these trips, we took the train up to Inverness for a few weeks. Our first day in Inverness we were tired after travelling all day, so I left the family at the hotel and walked over to a nearby Domino's to grab a quick and easy dinner. It being close and not being in a hurry, I ordered at the counter. I was informed that it would be about 20 minutes because of the dinner rush, so l stepped out onto the street to see what I could make of the wait time. The pub next door appeared to be open, so l thought l'd drop in for a pint. I assumed the Domino's staff was laughing at something else as I panned around the street and fixated on the pub, but in hindsight, their laughter was a cue I should have been more mindful of. The door of the establishment was carved from old wood, the sort of craftsmanship that speaks of a bygone era now fallen into a state of neglect. The glass to either side of the door had been shattered and was now being held together by packing tape. Ominals hut l had nowhere alce to he ll Ominous, but I had nowhere else to be. I pushed my way through. The pub was dimly lit, with most of the light provided by that of the overcast day filtering through the grimy windows and a single light above the entryway. The only immediately obvious presence was a man on his hands and knees armed with a bucket of water and an industrial scrub brush. He hardly looked up when I walked in and without making eye contact went back to scrubbing a curiously red colored stain on the hardwood floor. The ceilings were low, even for a European establishment, and the raised area in front of the bar meant that my head nearly scraped them as I stepped up and took a seat. Another stool at the far end of the bar was occupied by a pile of fabric that I assumed was another patron because of the half empty pint in front of it. It didn't move the entire time I was in there, so l'm still not sure. Bucket man eventually paused in his labors and came over to serve the only flat pint l've ever received in the UK, and l've been in some pretty seedy establishments. Ah well, better to pass the time with a flat pint than without. Perhaps I should have ordered a scotch... but as my eyes continued to adjust I realized the colors from some of the liquors behind the bars didn't quite match the labels, so that would have been a dubious path to tread. Bucket man went back to work on the stain while I sipped and passed the time. A few minutes later, I heard the door swing and almost immediately an argument erupted. "You're BANNED! You know you're not to be in here!" yelled bucket man. I looked over to see a forty-something woman dressed like a primary school teacher. "I just want a pint!" teacher woman yelled back. They went back and forth for about 5 minutes and eventually it devolved into obscenities and name calling. I never did find out what she was banned for, but sometimes life is just a mystery. 5y Like Reply 3

An armistice of sorts was made with respect to the larger box, although I'm not certain anyone was happy with the compromise.
