if it makes you feel any better, I had the BRILLIANT idea of trying to dye my hair bright red by myself-- me, with not just the shower trauma, BUT ALSO the seeing *blood* in showers trauma

We're not sure how he is still alive. He was old enough to drink in human years, several years ago.
He is the chinchilla equivalent of an old guy who lives past 100, entirely on a diet of whiskey and bacon lard.
I consider every day he chooses to stick around to be a gift.
