Been watching this UK TV show Harlots, starring Leslie Manville. Just saw it on Netflix the other day and was drawn in. Didn't know why at the time, but given today's news, I definitely recommend it for anyone looking for more insight.

For *some* people, Black people can't and shouldn't be powerful. Any power they have attained must be a con, or a result of some kind of backroom dealing. Any power they're trying to attain must be an overreach.

FWIW, I think Hakeem Jeffries is fair game for criticism on many fronts. But as someone Bluesky liberals regularly think is him, I do sometimes wonder whether aspects of his background help explain the intensity and tone of that frustration.

FWIW, I think Hakeem Jeffries is fair game for criticism on many fronts. But as someone Bluesky liberals regularly think is him, I do sometimes wonder whether aspects of his background help explain the intensity and tone of that frustration.
