We have resigned from the Scottish Government’s farming policy group having lost all confidence in the process.

Farming is key to tackling the nature and climate crisis. Many farmers and crofters want to do more but the current system is failing them.

Absolutely shocking.

The UK Government promised to be “the most nature-positive government this nation has ever had.”

Today’s decision to exempt more sites from Biodiversity Net Gain - the scheme designed to deliver more wildlife and green spaces where people live - flies in the face of that pledge.

At Pentrefelin in North Wales, Huw Foulkes is transforming his farm with planned grazing and 60-90 days’ rest per paddock.

The result: healthier soils, more grass, lower feed and fertiliser costs, and cows fed on grass 365 days a year.

Could it work on your farm?

Our attitude to water is leaving farms vulnerable, says NFFN Scotland Steering Group Member Ian Davis. Soil is the answer. Healthier soils absorb rainfall faster & help farms cope with floods and drought. 💧
