I've been hearing about Rebecca Yarrow's "Empyrean" series for awhile. I knew they were fantasy romances -- "romantasies" -- and they dealt with dragons. I'd read theorycrafting about the books way before I knew hardly anything else about them. I'm old school. When I think of romantic fantasies with dragons, I think Anne McCaffrey and the Pern books. There, the protagonist tracks the Cinderella story pretty closely, with a gold dragon standing in for the fairy godmother.

Daily Blogroll changes

Mostly technical. I did find out that one of the bloggers I recently added to the blogroll -- Kimimi, the Game-Eating She-Monster, blocked me on BlueSky. I won't ping her anymore, but I will still feature her articles because... she's worth reading. It's why I put her there.…

I go back and forth on how I should publicize the blogroll.

I just got the notice, just now, that DarkQuest 4 has just been released on Steam. This series, always influenced by the popular board game, has been gradually finding its own identity apart from HeroQuest, while still providing the tactical flavor. I played the demo quite a bit earlier in the year. I enjoyed replaying the fairly short individual adventures over and over until I’d perfected them.

Good morning, Bluesky. Over on Whatever I have a wrap-up of my thoughts on last night's election results, mostly focused on Mamdani's win and Proposition 50 out in California, but touching on other stuff as well. It was a good night! We need more of them!

Thoughts From an Off-Off-Year Election, 2025
Well, that was an evening, wasn’t it. Zohran Mamdani won decisively in NYC, of course, and that was the headline event in terms of optics, but then there was everything else, that went the De…

We’re excited to be able to propose a Dust Cover as an add-on to keep your Mini safe!!

The next goal unlocks a Brand New Game. We need to double our current stretch goal to reach it.

We usually keep two bases in Dune: Awakening's Deep Desert. A home base where we process the spice and ores we collect, and a forward base, just short of the dividing line, used as a staging point to excursions into the PvP half of the desert. Yesterday was the last day before the weekly Coriolis storm that erases every structure in the Deep Desert and will kill you if you are found there.
