“Recent administrations of both parties have utterly failed at holding the meat and pharmaceutical companies accountable for the incredible danger they are putting us all in,” writes Andrew deCoriolis, Executive Director of @farmforward.bsky.social.

The ‘I almost died on a vegan diet’ argument reminds me of one a lot of smokers used to use to justify not quitting that went something like ‘my grandfather smoked 12 packs of unfiltered cigarettes every day and lived to be 120’ (slight hyperbole there).
All the facts point the other way for both.
Overdoses & suicides aside, everyone I know who is dead died of diseases that almost certainly could have been prevented w a healthy plant based diet, yet everyone claims to know of someone who went vegan & nearly died 🤦‍♀️
Please, people. Think more critically. Yours & the animals’ lives depend on it.

It's 2025 & prominent environmental thinkers are still talking as though fossil fuels are the only problem & humans are the only victims.

The catastrophic impacts of animal agriculture don't get a mention. Nor do the obvious solutions of plant-based agriculture & the resulting land use change.
What a brilliant launch evening for The Growth Story of the 21st Century by Professor Lord Nicholas Stern! 🎆

Carbs don’t cause diabetes. Fat buildup in our cells does. A low-fat, plant-based diet helps reverse that process and restore insulin sensitivity.

We’re conditioned by the agro-industrial complex to be irrationally and emotionally tied to our food choices, and I don’t mean we vegans. Vegan choices are rooted in ethics; not crass commercialism. Sounds judgmental, I know. What can I say? 🤷🏻‍♂️

They breathe, they fear, they love, they mourn. The difference between “someone” and “something” is the line between justice and oppression. Veganism isn’t a diet or a trend. It’s a stand — a refusal to participate in the exploitation and killing of sentient beings.

You know why? Because these conferences do nothing. Recommendations are nebulous and place the onus on industry alone to do the right thing.

Tell them the truth. You can help by changing YOUR habits. Live Vegan. Encourage those around you as well.

That is giving people agency.

Getting some heat for this but if your second thing in your likes list is “animals” then responding to a lump of dead animal saying how nice it looks is hypocritical, no matter how “heartfelt” you believe you’re being.
Being vegan/veggie is an easy option nowadays to support things you “like”
I don’t want to be that guy, but no one “needs” meat 🥺
