I agree and go further and say this is unpacked internalized misogyny. “Carnal desires in wlw is for the male gaze”. frames men as “gender that is horny” and women as “only sexual to please men,“ so lesbian desire is soft. That women are free of lust. Sex isn’t inherently for men! We can fuck too!
A lot of lesbians are missing out on amazing lesbian media because they’re too self-conscious about consuming content that depicts the very normal, very understandable desire to long for another woman in ways that are visceral, intense, even carnal
not all that important of a topic in the grand scheme of things but honestly one of the reasons there isn’t a bigger market for lesbian media is how often lesbians write off said media as “being for the male gaze” by default without ever actually giving shit a try. god, it’s said ad nauseam
