It was DeWine who signed the law REQUIRING fracking of Ohio's state parks ... so yeah.
🧵A Threads post in response to a George Will op ed praising Mike DeWine - the post includes a screenshot to a comment on the Will piece which is spot on in labeling DeWine as a radical right winger clothed in temperamental calmness

The comment is a luminous piece of prose, suitable for framing.

A possible correlation between fracking and radon has been studied several times, but whether there's a link remains an unanswered question.

Hey Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Department of Health, and Governor Mike DeWine: Where is the study of health effects of fracking in Ohio?? Just because you refuse to study it does not mean it doesn't exist.

🧪 NEW STUDY:

14% of Americans (46.6 million people) live within one mile of at least one piece of fossil fuel infrastructure across all stages of the supply chain.

This proximity is known to cause health harms.

Radon comes from radium ... fracking brings up a lot of radium. So it's not a stretch to think there would be more radon near fracking sites. Yet the Ohio Department of Health has never done a study on the health effects of fracking. Why??

I will never spend my time on a show called "Landman." Too many of my friends have been force pooled into fracking or had polluting fossil fuel infrastructure put in next to their land without any consultation or consent.

A helpful thread on nuclear power, why it didn’t work the first time around, and why the tech-bro billionaire class really wants it to anyway.
People like to argue that nuclear energy mostly died in the US because of fear mongering after Three Mile Island and Chernobyl but it's really cost. And that's exacerbated by the fact that in the US nuclear is mostly a fully for profit enterprise. In most places with lots of nuclear it's state owned

Europe's electricity system is changing rapidly and often in places that don't make the headlines.

Look at Estonia - not that long ago and fossil fuels dominated around 90% of electricity generation.

Today solar and wind eat more and more into the share of fossil fuel-generated electricity.
