Partner shit aside, dealing with parents is incredibly shit. Give a holler any time you need to vent

November 26, 2025 at 12:52 AM
those look fantastic, and easy to modify
November 26, 2025 at 12:51 AM
does a local diner with a single location count as close enough for 'homemade' re:fruit pies?
November 25, 2025 at 11:39 PM
but these people really need to have shit lighting
November 25, 2025 at 11:36 PM
Absent the nut tips I think much of this could still apply!

these are all fairly simple steps that will convince people that you are a master baker. let them think that.

5- a lot of bourbon pecan pie recipes just have you toss a shot into the filling. do that. but then paint the top of the pie with bourbon. do it again at least once before serving it

and the bourbon should be super flavorful, not the 'smooth' you choose for sipping
November 25, 2025 at 11:27 PM
4- toast the whole pecans, and then take the couple extra minutes to lay them out in a nice pattern on the top. people will love a pie that looks nice
November 25, 2025 at 11:26 PM
3-the filling also needs a bunch of melted butter. you should brown a small bit of it.
November 25, 2025 at 11:24 PM
2-depending on the recipe you have, you're probably using at least one of corn syrup/golden syrup/brown sugar/molasses. you want to use at least two of those
November 25, 2025 at 11:23 PM
1- don't worry about the crust too much. you can punch it up a little by using some brown butter as the fat, or putting some of the nut crumbs into it. but it's just crust and most people don't care that much about it
November 25, 2025 at 11:20 PM
its actually incredibly easy!

filling - just add a bit of molasses
brown butter is super easy...literally just putting some butter in a pan at a reasonable heat to brown the solids, then use that as part of your fat for the filling and crust

and choose a punchy bourbon
