Also i will not be talked out of it: separating the two timelines into two separate films flat-out ruins the effect/intent of having two in the first place. They might as well be a random film & a reboot sequel with a new cast if you’re going to jettison the whole structure/experience of the story

Part of me knew the movies weren’t going to get it right in the very beginning.

Bill’s mom plays a weird sad creepy song on the piano. In the book it’s Fur Elise.

Not about the song—it’s supposed to be the last bit of Denborough normal life. If it starts out weird/creepy, there’s no contrast/turn

Literally the line from the book, from It’s POV is “and if bait were needed, what child does not love a clown?”

Uh, no child loves the Skarsgard clown, that clown is a nightmare toe to wig who can barely speak without drooling blood & sounding like Satan with a sore throat.

Bro.

You need to read It and The Stand what are you doing talking to me you have so much amazingness ahead of you get outta here
December 12, 2025 at 2:40 PM
Oh my god read the book of course!

It’s a phenomenal work.

Like what is the point of looking like a clown if you’re just gonna growl & drool & wharrgarbl all the time, that doesn’t lure kids in at all it just comes off like a personal clown fetish don’t shame IT’s kink I guess

Curry at least turned on the charm sometimes. New Pennywise just stuffs his face
December 12, 2025 at 2:35 PM
I say all this but IT is one of my top all-time favorite books. I love it like a sibling.

I get grumpy because it’s so good & I want it adapted well & that…hasn’t really happened yet.

Don’t shoot me but I don’t even like Skarsgard’s Pennywise. V. one-note & that note is just “gross monster”
December 12, 2025 at 2:32 PM
Oh I bought it on prime years ago
December 12, 2025 at 2:19 PM
It’s weirdly a better It adaptation than the recent movies…but I hate the recent movies so I’ll be alone in the corner shaking my cane

He’s literally cosplaying his favorite comedian it’s almost cute except for, you know, the eating people

Imagine going back to first grade and trying to tell the other kids about Hanuman when they already think you’re weird af

I have named a couple of things after her in books, including a street on Uranus in Radiance. My dad runs a sign company & made a street sign of it.

The Childe, because of the sign on the wall, asks more about Grammy than any other family member these days.
December 11, 2025 at 3:04 PM
It’s in the thread but I have this dinner bell of hers, the Childe asked where Grammy got it, I asked my dad & his brothers, & then they all just started laughing about how grandad bought the bell at the same time he got her Paddington when mom hated Paddington it was Pooh she liked

Ok I swear I’m not going to just weepily share Grammy Carolyne stories all morning, but this woman, born ~ 1930, picture perfect 50s WASP housewife, took 6 year old me to a *lavish 4 hour stage production of the Ramayana* in the mid-80s.

She was so fucking cool.
December 11, 2025 at 3:01 PM
I just finished replying basically that to someone else.

Knowing her, that was exactly her thought process & I doubt she held a grudge about it (though clearly her sons knew, which is almost funnier).

I just wish I could buy her the biggest Pooh I could possibly find.
December 11, 2025 at 2:56 PM
There it is, I suppose.

Do you have the Russian ones? Because those are BONKERS
December 11, 2025 at 2:54 PM
Yeah, to me that’s the subtext. She was a housewife in the 50s, that came with a lot of repression, & I’m sure she was like oh it’s the thought that counts, at least he knew it was a bear, why make trouble etc

But bro. BRO.
December 11, 2025 at 2:54 PM
In conclusion, I want to say for the record my Grammy was an amazing person who taught me so much. I wish she could’ve seen that I grew up to be a writer, she would’ve loved that

She deserved her Winnie the Pooh dammit

wtf did she actually love ducks/geese & Snoopy? Or was it swans & Rin Tin Tin?
