This framing is a perfect example of the constant “it only ratchets up” criminal justice coverage from mainstream media.

No focus on the fact that Trump’s premise is a lie, but a “gotcha” that Trump’s inane “there’s no crime” comments are not factually correct.
Trump tells Canada’s prime minister that DC was a “raging hellhole” but claims that his crackdown fixed it.

TRUMP: “There is no crime in DC… no one’s being shot.”

There’s evidence that Trump’s crackdown helped curb crime — but it’s not true that it’s gone.

Example: this headline today.

what if I told you that taking accountability for your actions was traditionally considered a load-bearing feature of masculinity?
“I voted for none of this."

Prominent influencers, including Theo Von, Joe Rogan, and Andrew Schulz, are starting to distance themselves from the president they helped propel to the White House.

Every so often, political media will go out of its way to create a story and then externalize it as though it happened naturally at the hands of some other party. "Continued questions" from whom? "Emerging" from where? This is police shooting-speak.
Democrats are trying to move beyond Joe Biden, but continued questions about his cognitive abilities while president are emerging as both a major distraction and a litmus test for party leaders
Latest Revelations About Biden’s Acuity Put Democrats in a Tough Spot
The focus on the former president comes as the party needs to look forward rather than backward to exit the political wilderness.

Remember these guys did multiple days about a squirrel that was killed by animal control right before the election as if it was the crime of the century. And now they're dismissing human trafficking an innocent guy to a foreign slave labor camp as no big deal.

this confirms something i have long suspected, which is that certain people are told that their professional and academic failures are because of “affirmative action” or “DEI” as a way to avoid difficult conversations about their mediocrity www.wsj.com/lifestyle/ca...
You Blamed DEI for Hurting Your Career. Now What?
For people who pin their failures on diversity, corporate America’s DEI retreat removes a barrier—or maybe an excuse.

What I think is that even at the height of his "power" Steve Bannon was never really so influential. He lives in the shadow of Trump & always aspired to inflate his own profile at every turn, but was entirely disposable and secondary. Picking fights like this makes him seem more relevant than he is.
