One of my favorite playwrights is Eugene O’Neill, who’s basically a Catholic atheist. Doesn’t believe in God, refuses to give up Catholic stuff. Just fascinating.

Oh I feel about that one what I feel about Madame Butterfly. Which is to say: negatively.

That is some lame apocrypha. Add characters to Bible stuff, give nameless people names, come up with elaborate backstories, and feature angels warring or something. I need a story about Derek, Pontius Pilate’s loser cousin.

Ah. Exterior conflicts, clear threats, noble characters who don’t learn.

I feel like you have to either go all-in on making it an old fashioned morality play OR you go with some kind of uptight gothic tale nevertheless still a story about transgression OR you accept that you don’t have your own ideas and go to the regular movies.

Some kind of Great American channel? And I’m feeling certain that whatever PureFlix did is also bad.

Liturgy: for practicing, hard to break, very cool, often imperfect or awkward

And the fakeouts are tough: bsky.app/profile/deac...
I do love that Eucharistic prayer now, but the first time I encountered it as a deacon standing by the priest's elbow trying to figure out when to do my thing, that prayer has so many fake-outs before getting around to the Epiclesis

I didn’t realize the liturgy was such that the wrong singing made it cease to be a liturgy at all. What a compete wuss the liturgy must be. Kneel wrong and it dies.

I don’t care if it’s long, the Roman Canon is awesome. I am correct.
