LOVING HER PRINCESS: Adult FF Fantasy Romance (75,000 words) page 1 Chapter 1: Providing Aid & Avoiding a Pretentious Nickname Elspeth every season, every shade— each version of you shines as you shift with the sun yet remain yourself Elspeth Dawnstrider, high knight in the kingdom of Avicia, chewed her cheek as she evaluated the start of her poem. She ached to craft the perfect composition to express her love for Princess Ravenna, poignant and lovely and romantic, but so far everything was coming up short. Her writing style was too clean-cut, without the flowery language other Avician poets boasted. Anxiously she fiddled with the garnet ring she wore at all times. If only she could leave the royal guard, she could apprentice with the royal bard of their allied kingdom Mondatin and stand half a chance of creating the perfect piece for the elven princess. But her contract was unbreakable, at least for anyone who wasn’t in the royal family. And this stupid poem was going nowhere.

You are hereby retired from the Avician Royal Knighthood with highest honors. May glory follow you.” “So long as the glory is you, Rav,” Elspeth whispered, which was not in the script for the passing of the mantle. The voice-amplification spell didn’t catch it, but Ravenna did, and she had to swallow those tears again.
