Today we honor the Korean immigrants who came to the United States during the first immigration wave from 1903 to 1949. Korean Americans have made – and continue to make – significant contributions to the Golden State and across the nation. Happy #KoreanAmericanDay!

Today the California State Senate adjourned in the memory of the lives lost during the January 2025 Eaton and Palisades Fires. May their memory never be forgotten.

Avoid driving through flooded roadways, as water depth may be difficult to judge. Mountain travelers should be prepared for chain controls, reduced visibility, and possible road closures. Consider delaying non-essential travel during peak impacts.

It's NEVER okay to drive buzzed/impaired from drugs or alcohol. A small amount of alcohol can affect driving ability. Save a life, don't drink & drive. Call a sober friend or a rideshare / cab to get home safely.

If you see an impaired drunk driver, pull over & call 911.

Today marks the anniversary of the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.
A historic victory for justice and equality. It proves that when we speak up and stand together, we can break barriers and create a world where everyone can serve proudly.

Really sad to hear about the tragic death of Rob Reiner and his wife yesterday in their Los Angeles home.

California kids are better off because of Mr. Reiner’s involvement in creating First 5, a funding source for early learning essentials.

May he and his wife rest in peace.
