Social dynamics and online culture from the hybrid mind of a terminally online-normie mom

Marriage has a PR problem today, and some of that is because a bunch of anti-marriage myths keep proliferating despite being completely untrue. Today, I argue that most marriages today are actually pretty good.

Today I write about how the 2010s body positivity movement did nothing to improve teen girls' mental health and body image--in fact, the toxic 2000s beauty standards just festered and got worse on social media. www.cartoonshateher.com/p/2000s-beau...

An example of a ridiculous thing that is now used as a reason to resent your parents: having been subjected to "threats," aka, consequences. It's hard to parent when our kids are up against this.

Even if your child doesn't go no-contact, there is a lot of less drastic but still miserable gray area around it. People are given increasingly small reasons to put their parents in this area.

I've been working on this one for a while because it's honestly just really embarrassing, but part of what informs my parenting is how easily I see other adults blame and resent their parents for small things. I want to give my kids as few reasons as possible to hate me. Link in replies.

Today, I wrote about the villain at the intersection of Karen, wine mom, millennial liberal white woman, and cat lady: the reviled HR lady. www.cartoonshateher.com/p/hr-is-the-...

My husband and I finally tried out Fair Play, the game intended to make invisible labor visible and to equitably divide domestic labor. Our experience was interesting since my husband is the neurotic one. www.cartoonshateher.com/p/bad-husban...

Today, my Trump impression on the division of domestic labor and the mental load. Link in replies.

Today I wrote about the Thoughtful Gesture Industrial Complex--new things people are expected to buy to be good spouses, partners or parents--and the fact that almost all of this is astroturfed from TikTok.

No matter how progressive you are, the most important thing to be is Hot. Your points are invalid if you are not Hot. You must constantly signal that you are Hot, even if you're just campaigning for a NYC mayoral candidate.

My take on the idea that "boyfriends are embarrassing" is that pretending to be indifferent or hateful toward men is often just another way of signaling that you're hot--so hot that you don't even have to like men to get their attention.

Today, i wrote about the "word of the year" in 2025, an infamous teen meme called 6-7, and the 1998 meme "sloosh" that felt eerily similar. www.cartoonshateher.com/p/before-67-...

Today, I wrote about the men who find the act of wearing a Halloween costume painfully embarrassing, and how this relates to a larger scheme that hinges masculinity on trying as little as possible.

One of my favorite fun facts is that in 2006 Tucker Carlson was on MSNBC doing a segment about asexuality. I've been told this isn't ideal for the "get to you know you" game on the first day of work though?

Today I wrote about "temporarily embarrassed high school bullies," or people who have never been particularly cool but use politics, ideology or other causes as an excuse to give all the atomic wedgies they always dreamed of.

It’s not against social norms to throw a dinner party but good luck getting anyone to show up or dress appropriately

Today, I wrote about how the loneliness epidemic isn't about men, or women, or even how society is built, but about choices we all make every day to avoid socialization, effort, or embarrassment--and how it's too easy to make these choices.

I thought I hated being the sexual aggressor because I was unconfident with my body. But even after I learned to love my body, I still hated being the one to initiate sex or (God forbid) REQUEST a sex act for my own enjoyment.

Today, my first article that I asked my parents not to read. I examined how my sexuality works (and the sexuality of other straight women) and how this relates to almost all depictions of female sexuality in media.

Most people are cringe, not remotely edgy, and like brunch. Your shitlib mom's ethos resonates with more people.

People may be laughing at "cringe middle aged liberal women" at the No Kings protests for being insufficiently edgy or radical, but if your movement can't appeal to women like Sharon and Dawn, it won't win. www.cartoonshateher.com/p/your-prote...

About a year ago, I quit a very unsuccessful 13-year career in tech to be a full time SAHM/writer. One thing I didn't expect: I would become obsessed with work.
