it’s adorable and it’s also teaching them so much about how to interact with other dogs! They’ll ultimately learn how to draw and respect boundaries and what’s appropriate play from each other.

yesterday the puppies turned four weeks old! Which means we started the weaning process.

Newt got to work on her brewery dog skills this evening and it was a success. Ate some dinner and had a beer while there was live music, and some people walking around. It wasn’t very busy so it was good for her to not feel too overwhelmed. She ended up falling asleep under the table 🥹

the hallowed hounds have had a busy couple days! My neighbors visited them yesterday and today my friend came by with her son. Even at so young an age the puppies are benefiting from these visits. I can already tell very individual personalities and love seeing them interact with new people.

Newt had the day off today but yesterday I brought her to my parents’ house to roam their backyard. No other dogs or people around, just her getting to freely explore. In this video you’ll see how nervous and timid she was at first,

adventures with Newt! yesterday we drove to my sister’s house & walked to her neighborhood playground. Newt did such a great job walking next to the stroller, which can be a little intimidating. The playground had some commotion with kids coming & going, swinging, sliding, running, etc.

yesterday I brought Newt to a small market at a brewery for an adventure & some socialization. I did *not* realize there would be a full band playing Christmas songs inside the tap room 😅 it was beautiful but a bit overstimulating for Newt (& me as well lol) but she handled it like a champ!

taking a break with lil mama Salem. now that her babies are over 3 weeks old, they’re efficient at nursing and able to go longer periods without her. Which means she can take longer breaks away from them! She is thrilled about this 😂

Newt went with me to the library & then we explored the woods behind the building. She needs to build her confidence back up some which I’m ready to help her do! She has a strong foundation so it shouldn’t take long. Puppy socialization is important - if you don’t use it you lose it!

we’ve had a quiet couple days with Newt, letting her get readjusted to life at camp carter. Walks, snuggles, crate naps, and play time. She’s settled right back in and is happy as can be 🥹 it’s been really fun to get reacquainted with her teenage self after raising her as a puppy.

When I have little foster puppies I love to read to them, and this year I’ve been working my way through the throne of glass series. I’m halfway through kingdom of ash and it’s kinda perfect that I have fuzzy little emotional support puppies at the ready because omg this book!!

I move the puppies to a little bed while I clean the baby box and they’re old enough now to recognize they’re somewhere different and have some feelings about it. Eclipse and Nyx were cracking me up in particular this morning 😂 it won’t be long before they start stumbling off the bed to explore!
