Similar concerns and reasons have kept me from doing TikTok and other video because I don't need to open myself up to that. Not that I'm good at marketing my books anyway, but I worry about doing it and I worry about not doing it! Isn't that fun?
I am 48, fat, and cannot be arsed to do makeup. I do not want to record videos promoting my books. I have explained this to publishers in exactly these words, but it’s a 50/50 on whether it takes.
As more and more creators are expected to be on camera to promote their comics, can we talk for a second about how this opens up female creators to intense harassment about their looks?
Not to mention a lot of "You only have a career in comics because you're good looking" comments?
