Lynden Nicolson has begun his big day as guizer jarl of Lerwick’s Up Helly Aa.
Nicolson and his squad of 65 left Islesburgh earlier this morning – following a stomach-lining breakfast – to head out into the public for the first time.

Felt like I searched every Hazel with male catkins yesterday looking for a female flower. Eventually found literally one in the whole park (Jubilee Lake in Royal Wootton Bassett). Lots of buds, so I think things are about to get serious for the Hazels. #WildflowerHour
