Mostly unfunded retiree. Collector of cats, dogs, and non-functional workshop equipment. Likes toy trains, motorbikes, fried food, and sniffing nitromethane. Broadly left. Intolerant of wankers of any stripe. Holds grudges for decades. Blocks for AI use

If there's one thing you can say about social media, it's that it has allowed people who are bad at thinking to more easily locate other people who are also bad at thinking and gather into poorly-thinking groups where they think poorly together in a self-reinforcing manner.

My prevalent memory of my (thankfully distant) school days is being surrounded by a braying ring of mouth breathers with 300 word vocabularies, calling me stupid. I had no idea how well this would prepare me for adult life in the C21st.

YouTube just offered me a video, from the IPA, quelle surprise, titled "Australia's Future, With Tony Abbott". Which may have been self defeating, because the title alone makes me even more enthusiastic for a future *without* Tony Abbott.

Lots of people end up dying shortly after breaking a hip. That and pneumonia are usually death sentences when really old.

It is entirely typical of Australian retail that, in other markets, TKMaxx offers remaindered brand name goods at attractive prices, whereas here it appears to just be a shittier version of Target/KMart/BigW/Aldi centre aisle with less selection and higher prices.

If I admit to feeling no trauma whatsoever (over and above the usual background level due to the general existence in the world of terrible things) do I risk having my citizenship revoked?
Chris Minns trying to say everybody in Australia is having a significant trauma reaction to the Bondi shooting incident is certainly something. If he needs help, he should get it and not drag the rest of us into it.

I blame home makeover reality shows and the real estate industry in approximately equal measure.
Watching old Murder She Wrote makes me miss comfortably eclectic old set dressings of middle class TV homes. Every house interior now - even in purportedly middle class homes - is a glossy minimalist painting. Fresh flowers! Immaculate sinks! Shiny counters! Matching tableware and napkin holders!

You'd think at least a few of them would have watched Gladiator.
They are so stupid as well. 1 or 2 of them regularly go peeling off from their buddies to try chase random protestors who threw a snowball. That’s great way for them to eventually get overwhelmed and really hurt when protestors start fighting back

There might be a reason for that...
They're trying SO HARD to be BigStrongAlphaMen and all they manage to do is look like incompetent middle school bullies.

The world has many brutal dictators. How come the US is only ever concerned by the ones sitting on massive oil reserves?

As a short bloke he's probably been regularly at the centre of pub fights his whole adult life.
It’s not few times I’ve thought to myself that the local bus drivers aren’t paid enough for all the annoying people they deal with. Special creds to the short driver who threw out a bunch of drunk teens on the risk of his own safety on NYE.

Post Xmas reminder. Lego has *always* been fucking expensive. It's a precision product manufactured in Europe. The *only* reason you think it used to be cheap is that other people were buying it for you.

Let's be honest. Until someone actually physically drags him, in shackles, out of the Oval Office (or the MaL dining room, or off the golf course, or wherever) and bangs him in the slammer, all the legal findings in the world aren't going to stop him.
