Gas as a 'transition fuel' is a concept from the 1990s.

'We have a gas shortfall in future years & that’s why we have been very clear that we want gas to be part of that transition”

'To be clear, there are no simple solutions for the threat of wildfires amplifed by anthropogenic climate change.

The rate of change in lightning-fire activity & associated impacts on Tasmania natural landscapes is outpacing institutional adaptive capacity.'

Donald Trump has never been particularly critical of the Saudis, and he has always been very clear about the reasons why.

A historic step in the journey to a safe climate is on the table at the world’s biggest climate summit: a roadmap away from fossil fuels, which are the biggest cause of the climate crisis.

We support the leadership of Brazil & encourage all delegates to support it, especially Australia.

And he still can't say when they will actually release the full details of their energy policy.
Dan Tehan on RN saying that governments will pay to keep existing ageing coal fired power stations open, as well as doing lots more gas drilling. While claiming 'the market will dictate'. Lots of talk of 'base load', misunderstanding modern energy systems.

What a mess.

The majority of people — politicians, business folk and public alike — fail to realise how violent a 2.6°C hotter world (over 4°C in Europe) will be. Displacements, forced migrations and armed conflicts will become the norm at every level, everywhere, including in currently peaceful regions. #COP30

As COP30 kicks off in Belém, the timing of this announcement seems out of touch, with nations from the Global South demanding strong actions from countries like Australia.
