Email from the British Library at 4.45 PM:

Follow up at 5.52:

“We're very sorry, the email you just received was sent too soon – our catalogue is not yet live.”

BREAKING - Richard Hughes resigns as chair of the OBR
December 1, 2025 at 5:00 PM
Maybe there should be an Office of Office of Budget Responsibility Responsibility.
This is somewhat nerdy/technical but reveals utterly woeful practices at the OBR – where they relied on free Wordpress plugins to protect some of the most sensitive economic data the UK publishes.

Absolutely dismal stuff, and not just one junior staffer screwing up.
OBR PDFgate investigation is out. obr.uk/docs/dlm_upl...

Because I’m not busy enough today this chord progression is Bm diminished/A6.
Are there composers who specialise in those brief logo music stings you get for computer consoles, streaming services and adverts?
This is still my favourite. I'm always singing it in the shower? What's yours?

Ah, a proper radio legend. I enjoyed his 5Live shows in the 1990s. RIP.
Deeply sad to hear that the brilliant, legendary Brian Hayes has died at the age of 87. His contribution to British radio knew no bounds. While he didn't create the @lbc.co.uk phone-in, he perfected it after moving over from Capital Radio in the early days of ILR.....

Perfect Tom Stoppard story from DTel obituary:

His response to a letter from Harold Pinter canvassing support for a proposal to have the Comedy Theatre in London rechristened the Pinter Theatre, “Have you thought, instead, of changing your name to Harold Comedy?”

Playwright and cricket fan Tom Stoppard, who has died aged 88, wrote a famous speech in praise of the cricket bat in his play The Real Thing (1982), using the skilful creation of a bat as a metaphor for the writing of plays.

Genuinely perfect intro

But erm, we can’t defrock. We abolished the power in 2003 and the measure reviving it hasn’t passed its parliamentary stages (and won’t apply retrospectively)
