Bod Squad, The

I think I picked this up LATE in the #C64 Day and you know what, if you like platformers / Rick Dangerous, this is a DECENT game. Great production values, brilliant movement and GFX & SFX. For a BUDGET game. It really is very good. If you have not played it - do so today!
The cool Egyptian Pyramid feel of the Bod Squad loading screen. Bod the Alien and a cohort are present. Tutankhamun is in a sarcophagus; a green monster mummy wrapped in banbages is here, treasures and caverns of loot-filled Egyptian HEAVEN! And this only depicts LEVEL 1!

Ahhhh, well, we;ve done HE and FQ, so - R is here on the #C64! I remember seeing this in the "Early Warning" pages of CF and that's all she wrote - I never played it until just then. IMHO, despite it's high production values, it is the weakest of the 3. However, it is still ok.
Space scene. A star peeping over a distant darkened horizon. A planet hangs low and a spiral galaxy sits off up to the sinister. Front left a Dude in black trousers and TOP OFF with a buzz cut is grimacing at you, one gun over his shoulder, the other steadying his weary knees as he works up the courage to try and stand up without holding on to anything. Don't get old, Kids!

In October 2020 I released an adapter to use the 8580 SID Soundchip in place of the 6581 SID. Useful to use the other type of SID in your Commodore 64 'breadbin', or with my SID interfaces for Z80 systems (for SAM Coupe and RC2014). Info / Buy: 8580.samcoupe.com

Simply one of my favourite #C64 games of all time and it was written on a #48K. SMH. The screen below, when appearing as you are traversing a mountain range, or forest, genuinely instills TERROR. Genius game by Mike Singleton. Available on many modern platforms.

Old Tower

I think I first got this game on XBLA on the #XBOX360 way back when, or perhaps Steam, but this 2020 #C64 version is an absolute MARVEL on the machine. Utterly charming, heavy production values and it plays PERFECTLY. If you've never played it - give it a go, it's CRACKING!

Monty on the Run

When remeniscing about classic #C64 games it doesn't take long (how has it taken me almost all year?) for the conversation to turn toward MotR. It is true marmite & BITD I really was not a fan at all, the annoyingly high difficulty irked me. But, I just played it. Wow.
Monty Mole, wearing a blue tracksuit and wearing trainers, spectacles halfway down his prominent sloped face and sweating like a fatman at a pie-eating contest, is rushing through the crates to board a ship. The classic Monty on the Run loading screen on the Commodore 64.
