the face mold of Lt Commander Data seen in #StarTrek #TNG S1 E13 “Datalore” (1988) is reminiscent of False-Maria’s head from METROPOLIS (1927)

I have never in my life seen sponsors place their products directly into the credits before! and frankly I think we should bring it back— full transparency!

simplified my thoughts regarding MUTATIS menu, shown here as a series of columns to convey progression, gray is player1 sprite, colors are player0 sprite, move up column, choose game type (of 4), game difficulty (collect 2 or 4 biota), boost health (left) or shield (right), then four levels #GameDev

folks give away stuff in our laundry room, usually when they move out, the weirdest thing over the years has been a high-end Kylo Ren mask— today there was a bunch of directing books, which made me a little sad— anyway, I scored some Strindberg #TheatreSky

designing 8-bit UI for my #Atari game MUTATIS …truly relaxing, think I figured out how to combine Game, Difficulty, and Level Select, one sprite for shape (player1, gray) one for selection (player0, colors)— players move contextual selector up from bottom “M” #GameDev bywilliamjmeyer.itch.io/mutatis

going to make an educational film for the faux science in my Interactive Fiction game— started by tracking the gate weave from an old PBS documentary that looked pretty good— still designing the nefarious sci-fi corporate logo

returned Camus to the library, put some Sartre plays on hold, seemed pretty funny in the samples Hazel Barnes dramatized during her existentialism lectures

messed around a bit with some type treatment for my Interactive Fiction game (will add to my Itch page at some point)— but wondering, if your planet has the word “prime” in its name, doesn’t that lead to megalomania?

last night my two current cultural interests collided when I found this #Atari2600 game by Alien Bill. Looking at the screenshot you can figure out the gameplay. lol, I say, lol. #Camus alienbill.com/2600/sisyphus/

chatting on here about Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s DRACULA w/ @jeffparker.bsky.social + @cybeldp.bsky.social prompted me to dig out this drawing— pencilled and inked circa ‘92 …!

working on the graphics for my next #Atari programming video, talking a bit about combs, aka HMOVE lines, those funny artifacts on the left side of the screen, and the clever Activision aesthetic solution #GameDev

learning more Inform 7 and writing my first Interactive Fiction game— the thrill of adding a text-based sound attribute to an object was legit— still finding the voice of the game text— questions I never thought to ask— who is talking to the player? why? what is their relationship to the narrative?

Finished THE PLAGUE by Albert Camus. Laughed grimly during last few sections. The part that spoke to me the most, Tarrou’s story about his father (won’t spoil). Though the gap after his telling intrigues me. No time or space shifted, which would ordinarily be my guess, so not sure what it signifies.

I like Dr. Kathryn Lawson’s artwork which she shared in her talk ‘Decreation for the Anthropocene’
