Much of the Government's intention for cutting PIP and UC is to motivate people to find a job

But cutting social security can't 'incentivise' people into jobs that don't exist

New @jrf-uk.bsky.social analysis shows there are simply too few jobs for the Government's argument to hold

TW: suicide/self-harm

A coroner has warned that overstretched prison staff have become "hardened" to incidents of self-harm at a women's prison with one of the worst records of inmate deaths in the country

The report to the Ministry of Justice highlighted a lack of staffing

Referring to events in Ballymena as "disturbances" is a euphemism too far. We are witnesses to a pogrom. And it behoves us to say so, loud and clear.

Séamas O’Reilly: Ballymena violence is the result of politics based on scapegoating any ‘other’
"The central perversity of treating these people as anything other than racist thugs is only more transparent in Ballymena because they have so few migrants that any other excuse is patently absurd."

Everyone I knew who covered disinformation got laid off, their bosses got bullied into firing them, or they changed their beats from actual Nazi harassment campaigns. It cannot be stressed the damage the paid-for Substack “free speech” guys did in the service of fascism and against real free speech.
i've been trying to see what the right wing platforms (even outside of X) are showing people regarding the protests in LA and i am not sure it can be overstated just how much the AI slop is being used to reinforce the idea that downtown is a post-apocalyptic war zone

🔴I wrote about the anti-raids protests in LA and whether anything similar could ever take place in Britain.

With the rise of Reform and the ramping up of Labour's enforcement activity, we ignore what's happening there at our peril.

The essays in the new federal hiring process are designed to avoid any objective metrics, and easily gameable by AI. They make it more difficult to assess political bias, and so millions of job applicants can reasonably assume they did not get a job because they lacked MAGA credentials.

In a nutshell, the majority decision amounts to "Your uncertain immigration status (bc of the state) means your life in the US is so unstable you can't possibly have settled properly here, so it's fine for you to go back to a country you last saw as a toddler"
A brutal 2–1 decision from the 5th Circuit forcing the removal of a young girl to Venezuela even though she has lived in Texas for years and it is the only home she can remember. The dissent verges on incandescence in its fury and despondency. Incredibly bleak.

It would seem that many reporting on the AG's comments re the dismantling of international law in the 1930s don't actually know the context for the ECHR. This is a failure of accurate and honest reporting
