It's been nine months since that ordeal, and it's been hard to recover. We each gave up a $20/hr job on principle and we are currently working jobs paying roughly 25% less. I'm waiting to hear back from Potential New Job and keeping my fingers crossed for a good outcome.

A few weeks later, my husband's new contract (he had been offered one of the two producer roles) was reneged. They paid him two months salary but it was another slap in the face all the same. >>

I have never, NEVER, in my life, been more sickened to my core to be associated with an employer or the people in charge. I had already put in a two months' notice of my intent to leave before this, but their attempt to keep us quiet made me leave then and there. >>

It was a Friday, and the station decided they would wait until Monday to bring anybody in to help the staff through the situation. Oh, and they didn't want any mention made of the incident, either on-air or to anybody else. >>

Fast forward to March of this year, and two weeks after the production department did their last shows, we learned one of them took his own life. How'd we find out? By an email from the general manager less than an hour before a newscast. >>

In its place, two more producer roles would be created, but all the producers would be expected to draft, script, code, add video and graphic elements to their own shows under this new system. >>
