UPDATE!!! The Tribune Editorial Board endorsed the AlPAC candidate in my race partially because she left the IL progressive caucus because she supports unconditional military aid to Israel.

Everyone knows about Ahmed al-Ahmad, the Syrian Muslim migrant who took down one gunman. Another man, a Middle Eastern refugee, ran into a firefight and kicked the gun away from the other gunman. Police shot him, and bystanders kicked him in the head while he was down, thinking he was the terrorist.

This is being misunderstood. He was shot and kicked in the head after he heroically intervened in a mass shooting. He is now facing deportation, separately. The reason he is facing deportation is irrelevant ffs—it’s a gross indignity on top of the abuse he suffered *after* being mistakenly shot.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.
