bluesky would only let me upload four images. I also drew Charon.

I've got one more @classicstober.bsky.social piece left in me before the month is out, but here are some smaller drawings I did of this year's prompts: Hermes Psychopompos, Hypnos, a Lampad, and Thanatos

@classicstober.bsky.social prompt day 16: Typhon. There are certain versions of the myth where Typhon was conceived by Hera to spite Zeus after the birth of Athene. I liked the idea of Hera having a tender moment with her writing, demonic son.

Medea saving Jason from the serpent of Colchis for @classicstober.bsky.social. It is based off of a 5th century BCE kylix, but I replaced Athene with Medea.

@classicstober.bsky.social Day 3: The Graeae.

Daughters of the sea gods Phorcys and Ceto and sisters of the Gorgons. They were said to personify the white foam of the sea and were described as being born old and “swan-bodied”.

The second volume for @singomusezine.bsky.social, Chthonic Visions, is out today so I thought I would post my contribution. I illustrated Medea, inspired by the fragments from the play "The Root-Cutters" by Sophocles.

It's #tolkientuesday and I come to you with a scene of Elrond and Gandalf examining Glamdring at Rivendell from "The Hobbit"

Artemis as undersea huntress. I found an article that spoke of an Arcadian shrine to a fish-tailed Artemis. This claim seemed dubious, but the image of Artemis as an underwater huntress took hold! She wears a fish scale alopekis and has seals as her companions as they are the dogs of the sea.

Annatar, the fair form taken by Sauron at the time he forged the One Ring. His design draws on a mixture of Minoan and Tudor inspiration.

Happy Star Wars Day! I feel like I'm honor bound to remind everyone that I once did some Ancient Mythological takes on beloved Star Wars characters. May The Fourth Be With You!

Sisters of the sea. A siren plays a jaunty tune for a harpy and a nereid. The ancient Greek ideas of sirens and harpies often get overshadowed, so I wanted to make an illustration distinguishing them from one another.

The Peter Jackson LotR movies was my gateway into Tolkien, and they are still very close to my heart, but very little brings me more joy than making and seeing non-Jackson inspired Tolkien art, especially if there's an ancient world flair to it.

Perseus

Persephone and Hades tending to the soil so that the following year's harvest will be bountiful maintaining the natural cycle of death and rebirth. Based off of similar imagery from Ancient Greek pottery.

A cleric of Aphrodite. A #dnd character set in a world inspired by the mythology of Ancient Greece. I'll be redrawing him in a bit, but here's his initial design along with some notes detailing the symbolism of his costume.

I’ve been listening to “Blood Moon” by Saint Sister a lot this season and it inspired this piece of a spooky Minoan Artemis dancing in the woods.
