In between the stories of horrific human rights abuses and trade war insanity I remember that they have also destroyed all our research and data infrastructure and effectively ended any environmental, health, or labor regulation.

Today, I am calling on Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and other top officials in the Trump administration to resign immediately due to their reckless and unlawful disclosure of national security secrets. Their actions have put our country at risk, and immediate accountability is necessary

Confusing traditional cultural touchpoints for current median American culture is a great way to lose the zeitgeist. Every medium size town in this country is obsessed with bubble tea, or with thrifting as a fashion practice. These things aren't left-coded; they're burgeoning mass culture. Go there.

serious, good faith question here: what is the difference between this and how congress raised the drinking age? i don’t wanna argue drunk driving vs trans rights (i support trans rights), but the only difference i see is the executive sidestepping the 10th amendment vs congress.
Gov. Mills: I’ll comply with the state and federal laws
Trump: We are the federal law. You better do it because you’re not going to get any federal funds.
Gov Mills: See you in court

If responsibility for guarding the Constitution falls to the Court alone, it's not clear why the President and lawmakers should be required to take their own oaths. The better reading is that they too are obliged to stand up against unconstitutional goings on. /7

this is incredible stuff. most state DOTs would spend tens of billions on highway expansions to try and see numbers like this (that wouldn’t even pan out anyway thanks to induced demand lol)

i don’t mean to rehash the discourse from the weekend, but fun fact: from the perspective of the data in uber’s servers, your burrito really was the passenger in a regular ass uber ride.

10 years ago a single bathroom bill passed in north carolina received so much pushback from all angles that the fucking NBA boycotted the state btw. that’s where we were then versus now. cool cool cool
Nancy Mace has introduced a federal bathroom ban which would ban trans people from bathrooms in DCA and Dulles airports, national park bathrooms, museum bathrooms, and all federal building bathrooms.

i don’t think we should trust an arsonist to do basic lawn care. cobol works. if you want to make the government more efficient, there are much much better places to make improvements.
First they came for the COBOL engineers, and I did not speak out
Next they’re coming for Excel macros
