Spent a year seeing if Mastodon would fill the hole left by the murder of Twitter. It didn't. Seems like there are more people here.

God damn it is undeniable how many people just outright hate AI. I don’t think any technology in history has ever revolted so many people in such a public and prominent way
If there is one thing Chance The Rapper fans love it’s bare metal compute. Absolutely perfect market. Just check out how enthusiastic his fans are! They love it and they’re ready to move their cloud infrastructure.

They’re misreading that. There *are* three ghosts, and the psychic can see the future as well as the past. The three ghosts are Madeleine, the old man, and Claire. #thelastdrivein

Winter Olympics message about culture completely undermined by AI slop animation (powered by stolen culture)

Why the hell is there AI slop in the opening ceremony of the Olympics?! You're the IO-fucking-C, you can afford to hire a real animator. It didn't even look good!

A disgusting insult to the artistic tradition of the host country, too.

Remember, sneering works. It’s working now. That’s why the lowliest AI fan and the CEO of Microsoft are trying to get us to stop saying “slop.”

AI art is supposed to be its flashy flagship and treating it as disposable rubbish (which it is) ruins everything

Behold: the first-ever list of news outlets that have banned generative AI in their reporting. As of today, this is literally information that you cannot find on Google.

My goal is to fill the starter pack, so please send over suggestions with supporting evidence!

one of my strongest beliefs is that we're in our situation right now bc some of the most prominent talking heads (e.g. joe rogan, andrew schulz) are learning about politics in their 40s and 50s, instead of their teens and early 20s, and we have to go along for the ride as they learn basic things

What is this shit! "plz follow the law, as you are already obligated to do, and we will give you more money"

If you could enforce these deals for ICE not to do shit it's already not supposed to do, you could enforce the law right now.

If you can't, you should not support giving them more money!
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Thursday said House Democrats will demand a ban on the deportation of American citizens as a condition of winning their support for legislation funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

We already have a warrant requirement. It's called the US Constitution. If that's not fucking binding them, what the hell does your little agreement mean?
Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said the party agreed on three main goals:

° Require warrants in some cases and ICE coordination with state and local law enforcement

° Create a code of conduct and enforce it

° Require agents to wear body cams and not masks
Democrats demand new ICE restrictions as government shutdown looms
After federal agents shot and killed Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, Senate Democrats say they’ll block a massive government funding package without policy changes.

I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.

This is brilliant, what citizens if US actually need, mass public mourning, all cities can join and grind to a halt during the memorials.
If I were an actual religious leader in the Twin Cities, I would be thinking about organizing the most enormous public memorial service possible for Good and Pretti. Time it with the next general strike. Put *everyone* in the street for a funeral procession that stretches for miles.

Just to note, now that TikTok is owned by an American corporation in the West it is actually less safe for its users than when Chinese interests controlled it.
If you still have TikTok and haven't agreed to the new terms yet, they are now collecting data on immigration status, gender preference, orientation and such. That's what got me to uninstall it, although I should have done it much sooner!

You cannot overstate how startling it is to see a politician just say the thing with clarity and poise. No fearful hemming. No overwrought qualifying down til it’s meaningless. No lingering sense that there is a loyalty to a donor class or an ideology of stasis that they’d never admit to.

Trump loves Saudi Arabia. It’s an authoritarian society, which punishes dissent and is owned by the wealthiest family on earth.

Trump hates Europe. The governments there are democratically elected.

The future of America must be a vibrant democracy. Not Trump’s authoritarianism.

Hey @letterboxd.social, this is someone you want using your service, freely and with great regularity. His reviews are part of the reason I and hundreds of others use your site so much. I encourage you to take a look and fix whatever the problem is.
Well I took down my posts to @letterboxd.social because I thought I solved the issue, but nope. Still getting an Error 1015 and being kicked off of Letterboxd. I'm a Patron member and being throttled and having my access restricted. It just started happening, but my usage has never changed. Help.
