Ok so over on Instagram I used to track my reading and always had nice chats with people about books so I’m going to move that over here now that I’ve deleted my Insta. (I’m also on StoryGraph as mittenstrings.)

I try to read 100 books a year. I fail as often as I succeed.
As a child, I killed several Teddies Ruxpin because I absolutely could not be convinced that I didn’t have to put coins in it to make it work, which probably says a lot about my lifelong understanding of earning and deserving joy.

The sound he makes while digesting a dime is nausea-inducing.
Like it or not this technology is here to stay and if you don’t use it you’ll fall behind in your industry

Hard not to notice the larger trajectory of culture being like

teen girls and their interests are worth a lot of money

that money gives them a power that makes us uncomfortable so we mock them

next we defang their media outlets and silence their voices

A cute confession is like "in my first year of teaching I accidentally stole a stapler from a place I was on contract and I used it for my whole career!" Not this. This is stuff no one should be able to waterboard out of you, Jesus Christ on a stack of Ritz crackers.

I am listening to this Allison Mack Apology Tour podcast and I cannot get over how much everyone involved in Nexivm seems very very stupid. This guys appears to have made a cult based on the Scientology episode of South Park and everyone is so credulous.

My friend Ian has been to hell and back to defend the right of educational technologists to speak critically about the tools of our trade. Today, @linkletter.org gets his life back. He deserves so much more, but he gets this now. Finally.

Ian's courage and tenacity is an inspiration for my work.
I have been dreaming of this day for over five years. Proctorio’s lawsuit against me is forever over. I’ve won my life back!

What is the normal amount of times a year to think about that interview Joseph Boyden once did where he calls himself two-spirit because he thinks it means someone who likes to live in two places? Because I think the normal amount is at least twice a month.

I always feel lucky when I get to share space with @mahabali.bsky.social, who has taught me so much over the years about making open education and our classrooms more hospitable to more learners. This episode is a joy and I hope you’ll enjoy listening as much as I did recording it.
In a new episode of Community of Praxis, Brenna interviews Maha Bali about her edited collection Open at the Margins and the ways open education is not always already equitable. @brennacgray.bsky.social @mahabali.bsky.social On your favourite platform or at

I am writing to a deadline after the kids are in bed and you can tell because I'm listening to Michigan by The Milk Carton Kids, the official soundtrack of despair.

This is horrifying. My 14 month old has had his scheduled 12 month first shot and an early-and-additional shot at 9 months because we were travelling. But I feel like I’ll be holding my breath until we complete the series at school age.

I have not been a Kimi Antonelli believer but I will admit to being wrong about this. Well done, kiddo.

There’s fandom and then there’s delusion and I admire both but people complaining about Oscar’s strategy need to go touch grass, F1-style. Yes the best plan would be to give the preferential strategy to the guy who has sucked worse all weekend. That would be very smart.

Oscar Piastri looking desperate as hell. Channel your calm, dude.
November 9, 2025 at 5:18 PM
That was objectively an extremely fun sprint. Fernando Alonso defended as long as was humanly possible in that predictably poor race trim. Good on Charles Leclerc. That was fun.

Where are my Oscar Piastri fans at? You guys crashing out hard? It’s gonna be hard to come up with a conspiracy theory for this one but I believe in you all and look forward to hearing it.
