They did - especially defensively. But after 3 game in 4 nights on a western road trip and with 4 top line players out, I’ll take that result

I'm not a big watching sports girl for the most part but it's so cool to see how the women's hockey league has grown from playing in municipal arenas to Place Bell.

Writer-director Jacob Tierney on his new Crave series Heated Rivalry: “As gay people, we don’t get to see stuff like this. We don’t get sexy fun happy endings. We don’t get to see our characters sail off into the sunset in love." montrealgazette.com/entertainmen...

Les Furies is super funny and very refreshing. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it’s never less than entertaining and all of the actresses bring real punch to the proceedings. And like any self-respecting sports comedy, it’s a feel-good movie. montrealgazette.com/entertainmen...

Plus: See Un-nevering, Myd, The Beths, and Alex Bird and the Jazz Mavericks this weekend in Montreal.

Cali is so happy to get back to see her friends at Librairie Clio! She literally lept out of the car in the parking lot and was dragging me to the Pointe Claire bookstore. #HabsNation

Ready to roll at Librairie Clio at the Plaza Pointe Claire. Will be signing copies of Habs Nation until 2 p.m. Come on down!

Habs extend Mike Matheson for 5 years, $6M AAV.

IMO, this is a little too long, and a little too much, but also less than Matheson would get on the open market. I don't dislike it, but I also don't love it.

I’m pleasantly surprised by the Habs trip so far. Next job… let’s beat the Colorado Nordiques 😜

Who had a 4-1 Habs win on their bingo card today? Impressive. Sam est de retour. Caufield coulda had a hat trick. Clearly all the team needed for liftoff was Texier! 😉
November 28, 2025 at 11:38 PM
They just said it on RDS – 'Sam est de retour'. I love how the franco journalists all call Montembeault by his first name. C'est un p'tit gars de chez nous. Oh and yes Sam is back!

Man how does Caufield score those goals? He just scores from the most impossible angles. Yup dude is a sniper.

Not the best of first periods for the Canadiens but they came out of it 1-0 thanks to a nice goal by Zack Bolduc on a beauty of a pass from Slaf and maybe most importantly thanks to some stellar netminding from Monty.

Matheson's looked way better this year now that Noah Dobson is there to take over a leadership role on the blueline. But Matheson still eats up an average of 24:50 of ice time every night and leads the team in that department.
Good deal.

Hard to find fault with the Canadiens new deal with Mike Matheson. Kent Hughes has signed him to a five-year contract that starts next season and gives him an average of $6 million a year. Clearly Math is leaving some money on the table here in order to finish his career with the hometown team.

A last reminder that I will be at Librairie Clio in Pointe Claire Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. signing copies of my new book Habs Nation: A People's History of the Montreal Canadiens. Come say hi – to me and to my fabulous dog Cali!

The Crave series Heated Rivalry puts a new spin on the Montreal Canadiens Boston Bruins rivalry – here the focus is on the torrid love affair between a young star player from Montreal and a hot prospect on Boston. “Sex is a language for this show."

Here's my latest Friday on My Mind column. The main item is on the new Québécois comedy Les Furies, a super entertaining film about a female roller derby team. The timing is great for the film with women's sports taking off all over the place – bonjour La Victoire!

IMO, they are both swimming in net, not staying put or anchored in their crease.

Nope. They are way ahead of schedule. Year 4 of the rebuild. They were dead last in ‘22 and 5th worst in ‘23 & ‘24. Youngest team in the league with tons of key injuries but they’re still winning. They’ll learn to lock it down as they mature.

Samuel Blais back with the Canadiens, picked up on waivers from the Loafs. Pretty funny. Likely headed to Laval.
