I wrote the speech I *wish* Chuck Schumer would give tonight - as an actual opposition leader. Here it is:

"My fellow Americans: At this hour, an unrestrained force of militarized and violent federal officers is carrying out a project of ethnic cleansing in the streets of American cities."

Senate Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included.

This is the way. Any 2028 Dem candidates need to start saying that on Day One: (1) all ICE agents fired; (2) pensions/benefits defunded; (3) forced to pay backpay as restitution to victims; and (4) only way to avoid prison is to become a cooperating informant
Maybe instead of identifying specific ICE agents who do particularly heinous things, we could just penalize everyone who was on payroll at the agency starting by a certain date.

This is really concerning. No accountability for agents or agencies that don’t identify themselves and no ability for citizens to know if these are let criminals impersonating LIOs. This can only get worse. www.latimes.com/california/s...
'Who are these people?' Masked immigration agents challenge local police, sow fear in L.A. - Los Angeles Times
Local police have little or no insight into where the federal enforcement actions are taking place. In some cases, local cops have been mistaken for federal agents, eroding years of work to have immigrant communities trust the police.

A little bit of karma shines bright with all the injustice out there. We can only hope the tides are turning.
