Happy to see someone outside Google rebuild/verify Go toolchains. Thanks @agwa.name! www.agwa.name/blog/post/ve...
"So far, Source Spotter has successfully reproduced every toolchain since Go 1.21.0, for every architecture and operating system. As of publication time, that's 2,672 toolchains!"

Teenager-looking girl at pizza place used the rarely used loan word "accoutrements" while dropping off my slice.
I congratulated her on her French. "Thanks!" She tells me about her recent trip to Paris. "Have you ever been to EUROPE?!"
Me: "yup!", quietly thinking "I should really get the Balkans"

I'm trying to find a press release from 1996 that doesn't seem to be on the web anymore, and Wayback Machine search basically only works if you know the URL.
Anybody here have LexisNexis, Factiva, ProQuest Historical News, Newsbank, etc access?

I'm trying out vibe coding today for a thing on a whim.
I think I like this in the same way I enjoy watching people try to parallel park a dozen times in a row, fucking it up the same way over and over again.

After two failed visits to local hardware stores today, I remembered McMaster-Carr.
If you ever want to buy an exact thing and avoid the Amazon flea market dumpster fire: mcmaster.com
omg I love their website + search. I've probably raved about them before, but here's your regular reminder again.

TIL the "Lamborghini Urus"
... for when you have $250,000 blowing a hole in your pocket and want a sports car, but also only have a 1-car garage and still need an SUV for hauling kids around.
Lamborghini Urus to the rescue!

I didn't want to speak the Peanut Butter Hula Hoops Language Server Protocol, so I hacked up x/tools/gopls to add my own HTTP server.
Yo dawg, I put a language server in your language server.
Now I can do thousands of renames quickly w/ a simple HTTP protocol w/ sane position encoding 🤪

Well it was a good almost 6 mo.
Unfortunately the Ioniq 5 hit a rock or something (maybe? we don't know!) & punctured the battery + now it needs a new $40,000 battery, so insurance suspects it's totaled, but insurance is very confused. As are we.
Is this car like super frail?
Time for a new car?

I don’t mean to overreact or anything, but this is the commander-in-chief telling military personnel that Democrats are a problem to be dealt with.

Me: "They're the same. It's a grid. Have you heard of Manhattan Distance?"

Whenever I read something about Paris, some arrondissement is inevitably mentioned and I inevitably forget what's where.
New plan: just remember:
4, 7, 12, 15
For where the spiral jumps the Seine.
Not as catchy as my RJ-45 wiring mnemonic but 🤷♂️
