A reminder to use the right P2A sequence to produce separate proteins - the images are from a GPCR-P2A-mCherry construct using a P2A variant without (upper row) and with (lower row) a preceding GSG linker.

For clear thinking, cultivate passionate indifference. Buddhists call it non-attachment. We all have hopes, desires and ambitions. Non-attachment means acknowledging them, accepting them, and then not inserting them into a process that has nothing to do with you. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/n...

Science is a process of discovering how our minds work.. of figuring out what we're drawn to.. there are things that if I force myself to read, I don't retain very well. And other things, I read the first word and I'm riveted, and I just soak it up. – Martin Schwartz on the Night Science Podcast

Some mock research that seems obscure, like studying the wing of a fly.
Some claim that science is unreliable because scientists sometimes change their minds.
Some fault science for not providing immediate answers.
But these criticisms all stem from misunderstandings of how science really works.

Failure is always in the background of any creative project; when the experiments are not working or the results don’t seem to make sense. But for discovery, you can’t deny yourself the permission to fail, and we should better teach failure in all its glory.

Good piece by @natureportfolio.bsky.social. The erosion of thinking time—driven by admin, bureaucracy, industry agendas, and unrealistic output targets—stifles curiosity-led science. These pressures undermine innovation and the intellectual freedom vital for real progress. 🧪🌱🌍 #ScienceIsNotBusiness
