Once, in computer games, someone would present a new topic, like baseball. They would say "I managed to use the computer to depict a facsimile of baseball," and whether or not you gave a fuck about baseball you'd see their work and say "damn, you kinda did." And you would think about the world.

This isn’t “safety”. More policing doesn’t keep us safe, especially in the face of a fascist regime. But you don’t care about that, you’re complicit.

ICE is a domestic terrorist organization. You must remember that many of these "agents" are members of The Proud Boys and other white supremacist groups. They were recruited because of their Nazi affiliation and put on the streets to be a white supremacist militia enforcing a racial hierarchy.

This dude is literally bragging to us about cutting a check to expand police surveillance the same week they publicly executed someone for the crime of non-compliance. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear the “cameras” in question are Flock specifically. Absolutely reprehensible.
Congress is broken, but investing in local projects is something it gets right.

$1 million in public safety funding for Cincinnati passed the House.

ICE gestapo murdering someone literally named "Good" is the type of metaphor so patronizingly obvious that you'd roll your eyes at it in a piece of fiction.

If you think ICE agents not being trained well is the problem, not that they're neo-nazis, you should be prevented from ever speaking on politics again
ice agents simply aren't trained well enough to be on the street. they are a genuine danger to citizens

You voted for the Laken Riley Act which is the entire legal basis for these operations that are causing innocent people to be killed and tortured. No one will forget your complicity, we will not let them.

I agree that LEOs should be held accountable but it's incorrect to frame this as being the status quo. LEOs are generally above the law and have been murdering citizens with impunity for their entire history. The police are an occupying army and the solution is to abolish them entirely.
We have to demand that Trump’s federal agents are held accountable for killing Americans just like we do when state and local . . . . fuck

What in the Gestapo is going on in Grand Rapids?

Watch this activist get arrested *mid-interview* for speaking out against U.S. action in Venezuela.

There’s a popular theory that as climate change worsens people and agricultural industries will migrate outwards from the equator. This theory doesn’t account for the capitalists being so stupid that they can’t help but fuck up their only backup plan by creating the conditions for climate apocalypse
"DATA CENTER WATER USE DOESN'T MATTER" is one of the silliest arguments I see floating around. unless you think re-writing 200 yr old water law (OG political third rail in the US) is a simple matter, the marginal consumption of new water is literally make or break for much of life in the western US

University of Chicago, oh yeah, the same University that gave the world Milton Friedman and the Chicago Boys, who assisted Pinochet in establishing 30 years of dictatorship in Chile. Please tell me more about their analysis on homeless demographics gathered by “indirect methods.”

Being an economist seems fun. When ppl say the material reality of their lives has gotten worse you get to chuckle and say “sounds like you’ve come down with a bad case of the vibes” before pointing to the real economy, a theoretical set of abstract values aggressively massaged for max positivity
I think this strengthens the case for Stancilism.

Immediate post pandemic economy was *weird* in a way that made it hard to compare it to similar years.

But we've got low unemployment and low inflation now. Very hard to make the case that now is worse than the Volcker shock.
UMich consumer sentiment (current conditions) at 50.4 is a new all-time low -- going back to data from the 1970s.

It really is the same. Extrajudicial killings shouldn't be a partisan issue. Obama had kill lists he signed off on, innocent people including children were killed.
