I mean I love JRPGs but a lot of the combat systems in those games are just straight up bad or incredibly repetitive. 33 is paced in a way to where you're rarely farming the same enemies are doing the same shit over and over again.
i am sure expedition 33 is a great game but it makes me a little sad to see the attention it's gotten from a lot of folks who just... never play japanese rpgs. there's uh something going on there

People always try to say it's bad that Oblivion is kinda vanilla compared to the environments of Morrowind but honestly give me a beautiful forest with a stock-photo goblin any day of the week. I don't need to spend 100 hours in your dark grey skooma den.

Gears 1 is funny because the whole game is just "HEY WE NEED YOU FOR A MISSION" then you go do the mission and the game ends immediately. It takes like 4 hours. It's like if the hero's journey was just a straight horizontal line.
