Why would God want Arsenal to win? The god of the New Testament was famously on the side of the underdog.

So, if he took an interest in Premier League football, then teams like Arsenal would be fucked.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Bit of news from me. Hugely honoured to be able to announce that I've been awarded The Checkatrade Trophy Peace Prize. 🙌 🕊️

If anyone wants to buy me a pint, I'll be up The Drapers later. 🍻 🕊️

Walmart and McDonald’s are among the top employers of workers who rely on food stamps.

McDonald's CEO raked in $18.2M last year — over 1,000x the company's median employee pay.

Walmart's CEO pocketed $27.4M — 930x the company's median employee pay.

See the problem?

Enough to make a pair of sailor's trousers. A small sailor.

The grim weather on the M6 is clearing. Glad I'm not driving.

Big fan of the new electric buses in Bristol. Especially when the sun goes down and they glow in the dark.

I find this Nazi era ID card horribly fascinating. The card would have been designed by an ordinary civil servant, just doing their job, as best they could.

To facilitate the transportation of undesirables. Like Maria.

Made me think about Hannah Arendt's work on the banality of evil.

"According to a recent survey commissioned by the brewer Greene King, 70% of people regularly take part in a pub quiz and almost one in 10 goes every single week."

If this was a multiple choice quiz question, I wouldn't have chosen 70%. I suspect the sample was people in the pub on quiz night.

The SUV of bikes. Just taking up the 5 spaces in the bike rack. Are bikes and their owners going the same way as cars? Bigger and more selfish.

A good evening at The Drapers Arms for Garvan's birthday. Molly, ex Drapers, had brewed a special birthday beer for him with Bruhaha Brewery. It was a late night.
