This is not disagreeing with the larger point, but I want to give a shout out to irate middle-aged midwesterners for being total bad-asses who us coastal folks should be ashamed for underestimating.
ICE can't even deal with irate middle-aged midwesterners. how does he occupy hundreds, if not thousands, of polling cites and precincts? trump v. illinois clarified that he has no legal authority to unilaterally commandeer national guards, how does he move forward from there?

So this morning I got doored for the first time ever. (I appear to be fine aside from small bruises, will see how I feel tomorrow morning)
I didn't realize till I stopped at a bike shop on the way home for a different issue that my stupidly large front rack probably prevented more serious damage.

For anyone after Gen X, sure? But us older but still working stiffs can certainly remember when Immigration and Naturalization and Customs disappeared and suddenly everything was "HOMELAND SECURITY". It felt like going from a specialized tool box to just one hammer.

The NewYorkification of Bay Area transit way-finding kinda irks me.
"Antioch/SFO line" is just as uninformative as "Yellow line" if you are new to the area. But, if you are a non-transit savvy local it can be time-savingly intuitive.
