The opposition is currently coming from the cross bench.

The Liberals have only been around since 1944. Australia CAN have a different opposition party.

It's hard to tell. I think they really need to fix their internal politics, organisation and ideology.

Not sure if a new leader will help there, or if the party will let them.

Exactly. They might be considered "moderate" in comparison to the new MAGA right in the party, but they're still very much economically neoliberal and believe in small governments. That's not Menzies-era centrism.

Yeah exactly!

I actually find that paradigm of women are better really insulting to women generally. She’s a person and should be judged on her politics, not her gender. Same as Ley who strikes me as incredibly un intelligent.

Exactly. And I think that's the mistake the Libs are making. That by putting a woman at the helm, it'll solve all their problems overnight (while also assuming that the woman leader will clean up the mess left by their male predecessors).

Their problems are much bigger than this.

Totally! I wrote: "This change in leaders will not heal either party overnight, nor should we expect Wilson/Sloane to miraculously clean up the mess left by their forebears over many decades."

Glass cliff = women are better leaders in crises due to stereotypes that they're more honest & trustworthy
