Americans will celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday. Not Turkey Day. There is such thing as Turkey Day. But if you are serving lobster & you invite me you can call it Lobster Day all day long.

This is my revelation to you.

But if I made bolognese for Thanksgiving would I say I am celebrating Bolognese Day? If I instead went out to a local Alcohol Glorification Establishment and got pizza would I say I am celebrating Pizza Day? No, I would not and you should not.

Not everyone eats turkey on Thanksgiving. Not everyone likes turkey! In fact most people don’t like it! Why would we name a holiday after something people don’t like? Now I like turkey, I like it about once a year and that’s on Thanksgiving!

There is no Taco Day in May or Corned Beef Day in March or Pizza and Pasta Day on the second Monday in October nor has that same day been renamed Fry Bread Day. That is not how things work!

The pilgrims probably didn’t even eat turkey! We actually don’t know! Why would we call a holiday after a historical falsity? We do not call other holidays after the things we eat.
